Anybody picked it up?

It's pretty fabulous.

I've dedicated my early high school life to much of Civilization III. Civ IV is nice, but it felt a little cartoony (?). Judging by the Civ V screenshots, it looks hell of a lot more serious. Also: battles! :O

Is this similar to CivRev? Or was CivRev too much of a separate product to say that? I ask because I fucking love CivRev and will certainly get Civ V if so.

It has some comparisons to CivRev.

I played the demo once, I dare not boot it back up for fear of wondering where the hell the past month went. Again.

4X games are the god damn bane of my time keeping.

Same. Civ games tend to take forever. One of my friends played it straight without stopping ... twice ... each game was around 8 hours in length. It's a good game, but the time it takes to beat it is, at times, ridiculous.

I have recently got it, and it is fabulous.
I like how the battles are now a little less random (than Civ3), and how there is so much more depth to it with city-states, better diplomacy options, and cultural policies.

One thing I love to change is that in the strategic (game-board-like) view, I cannot tell what a city is building without clicking on it.
I also miss the ability from civ3 where you could right click on a city or tile and get a list of things to select.

Other than that, I wish my computer was faster, such that I would not have to use my brother's laptop if i want a game.
