Take this into account;

World of Warcraft costs $15 a month to play. If you pre-pay for more than a few months, it ends up costing roughly $12 a month. We'll be conservative and round this down to $10 a month for ease of numbers.

World of Warcraft has roughly 10 Million monthly players - each paying $10 a month. This means that Blizzard entertainment is grossing a profit revenue of $100 Million dollars Per month of pure profit; Less costs for hosting, staffing, and patches, of course. I highly, highly doubt that their World of Warcraft team gets paid $100 Mil a month.

That said, this is also in addition to the hard copy of the games - Each retailing for $20 to $40; $60 at launch. Multiply those numbers by 10 Million, and Blizzard Entertainment grosses anywhere between $200 and $600 Million each expansion launch, not to mention paid character transfers, name changes, race/class changes, paraphernalia such as shirts, mugs, posters, etc... You see where I'm going with this.

Long story short, fuck yes, I'd pay for it.

This is pretty neat. Some of the facts were kind of shocking.

Also, if you take into account their budgeting costs per month, which run anywhere from $5 Million to a cap of $7.7 Million, they're making obscene amounts of cash for the product.

Also, according to that chart, my $100 Million figure was a gross underestimation, by a factor of eight, and that's *Still* underestimating revenues by a factor of 2 or 3. Grossing a Billion dollars per month in pure margin is kind of a big deal.

Why do you think I've been working on one for the better part of a decade?
