YAAAAARGH! THAR BE SPOILERS AHEAD IN THESE HERE WATERS, MATEYS.

Just finished Mass Effect 2: Full Paragon, saved everyone on the team, destroyed the Collector Base and told The Illusive Man to suck it. I chose to keep playing at the end so I can finish my side missions, play some of the DLC (hover tank, yeah!), and freak everyone out when I bring Legion along on my team (Migrant Fleet + Legion = Craziness). I also just watched the ending where everyone dies (save for Joker), and it was pretty damn depressing. It was definitely a more emotional ending than the one I played through, but I'm excited to go through ME3 with my team (assuming Bioware doesn't pull the same nothing-you-did-in-the-last-game-really-matters-in-the-new-one shit). Oh, and I completed the romance subplot with Jack (Miranda's a bitch, and I'm done with Asari after hitting up Liara in the first game then getting kicked in the balls by her in the second so Samara is off the table. I would have liked to go with Tali, but she wasn't available in the first game for that option so I'm kind of miffed. Jack is more interesting anyway). How did you go about the game? Also, this is what my character looks like:

Doctor Mc Shepard, PhD:

(That isn't the best quality photo as it was taken with the camera on my phone so his head looks a little distorted. I'll try to get a better photo/video later)

What class where you? I played a female adept, who was both paragon and renegade. Lost three members of my team - Miranda, Morin and Legion. Decided not to blow up the Collector Base, because who knows how useful it might be. In terms of Romance, I had dinner with Kelly, and chatted up Garrus a bit, but then nothing happened!

Ah, I forgot about the background. My Shepard is a Vanguard: colony-born, sole survivor (despite that in ME1 you find out there was another survivor of the incident, which totally cheapened that plot line). The only renegade I really did (that I can specifically remember) was during Mordin's loyalty mission, where you shoot a gas tank next to a Krogan in the middle of some long-winded speech and then ignite the gas to burn him to death (though I don't see how this is renegade because you would kill him regardless). Yet I must say that renegade Shepard is funnier and more interesting than paragon.

While saving my entire crew made the story a little unrealistic (though Kelly killed Wrex in the first game so I had to live with that in the second), I wanted the achievement, and I wanted all of them to survive anyway (with the exception of Zaeed, who can go eat a bag of dicks). Legion was too valuable to loose, especially if he plays a large role in ME3 (which he better).

I put a lot of thought into this decision, actually. While I figured it would be useful, I remembered that in every single instance of coming into contact with Reaper tech something went horribly wrong: indoctrination in the first game as well as in the second when Cerberus sends a team to the derelict Reaper ship, and not to mention that even the smallest of tech (the IFF) lead the Reapers right to the Normandy. Plus the Illusive Man is an asshat. I doubt anything good would have come from giving him the station in the long run. Even if he comes after me in the next game, hopefully I'll have the Rachni on my side (I saved the queen in the first game).

I think if you chatted up Kelly you couldn't get the romance subplot achievement, though I'm not entirely sure about this. It was more likely that you didn't chat up Garrus enough.

I'm playing through ME1 right now (I have ME2 but I don't want the default choices, everyone knows shepard is actually female!) as an adept renegade (Although choosing paragon choices for the hell of it since I have renegade maxed out), throwing people are fun.

Do you, by chance, mean Ashley? Because, you know, there wasn't a Kelly in the first game.

OT: I beat the first game with Wrex, all Paragon with a little Renegade. I chose Liara, and killed Kaidan, though I think I'll do it in reverse, next time around.

All my team survived, save for Zaeed which makes me sad, because that means I can't get the achievement. I'd be interested to see what happens if Wrex dies, or if you're a woman, but I'm not curious enough to actually try it out.

After I beat the game the first time, I went back and screwed every woman on the ship, except I screwed things up with Jack by choosing the "I have other options" choice.

Currently, I'm 1/4th of the way through the first game as an Engineer, and I really don't like it much. I mainly did this because I generally go through games like this at least twice, making decisions to find their outcomes, and making different decisions the second time around, either because I didn't like the first outcome, or I just want to see what happened.

Also I think Wrex being dead makes Krogan homeworld angry at your or something.

Miranda and I got nasty in the engine room. I saved all of my team members. And I exploded everything I had the chance to.

Yeah, I meant Ashley.

If Wrex dies in the first game, his brother gains control of his clan's throne. Unfortunately, he isn't very good at it and the Krogans aren't really united or organized as much as if Wrex had taken control.

Nearly this, except I didn't have enough paragon/renegade to get Jack's loyalty, so she died.

I soooo wanted Wrex on my team, since I saved him in the first game. D:

Just finished Mass Effect 1, and I have to say (aside from some rather awkward love scenes - Male Shepard is one cheesy player!) the game was fantastic.

I loved the combat once I got into it. Friendly AI was a little dense, but the general mechanics were really fluid and very enjoyable. I played it on the PC, and I've heard it's much more slick in terms of on the fly commands and such, makes the firefights move at a much more electric pace.

Just ordered myself a copy of ME2 from amazon (half price compared to steam and other digital offers), and I have a question:

Will I have any trouble activating this through steam and do I need to activate through steam to continue my save game?

I'll ask on the steam forums later, just being lazy.

I believe ME saves to its own folder not contained within the Steam folder, so ME2 should have no trouble seeing it. I'd register it on Steam just for the hell of it anyway though.
