Obviously it depends on the game and the scenario, but I tend to favour a semi-automatic rifle like the Garand, which offers a good mix of speed, accuracy, and power.

Assault rifles, baby. I'm a medium/long range kind of guy. I'm not good with shotguns or melees and I'm not much of a sniper, but I make up for it with... assaulting? Yeah.

Pistols are okay too. Especially in MW2 when I'm trying to get tactical knife so I can do those crazy speed melee runs. :D

Where's shotgun? :o

My tastes have evolved over the years. It used to be that I'd go for purely long-range, preferring bolt-action sniper rifles. But in more recent times, I like to get up close and personal. In my last excessively long bout of CS:Source, I used almost exclusively the MP5 and the pump-action shotgun before switching to pistol/knife only as I got more bored. I just happen to think that pistols are especially classy.

In a zombie game, I have tried multiple times in earnest to appreciate the use of anything, anything, other than a shotgun, and I've come up with nothing to show for it. People who go for the Uzi in Left 4 Dead confuse the crap out of me.

In the more generic settings I prefer high powered Pistols and Assault Rifles with single shot capacity. The pistol from Halo: Combat Evolved being my favourite FPS weapon of all time.

I'm also extremely partial to Sniper rifles.

TF2 and it's Rocket and Grenade launchers all the way.

I basically kill out the pistol in every game possible, and for some reason HATE Automatic weapons, of any kind. SO for me it's Pistols, Snipers, Shotguns, semi-auto rifles (Like G3, M1 garand, FAL) And in the case of Halo, The Sword. Pretty much all of which I am a beast with. :)

As an Uzi user who has logged over a hundred hours in the game, let me shed some light on that.

First of all, I like the AK and the Assault Rifle, but when we're in the higher tiers, shotgun is absolutely the way to go, if only for the reload ability alone.

On the other hand, the low tier shotgun is incredibly slow, and bad at range. That speed means that, at close range, it's preferable to stick with the melee weapons, because otherwise you're going to get fucked. The only preference is that it shoots through so many, so in a choke, it can still be okay, but there's really no reason to prefer it over the uzi, that, in bursts, is faster than the 1st tier shotgun, not to mention has more rounds to discharge. (It might take about four to take down a zombie, but a headshot or a well aimed kneecap can either kill them slash buy you time.

Pistols for fun, assault rifles otherwise. I'm okay with sniping, not very good with a shotgun. Grenades/melee etc. are situational.

Other: shotgun. I usually prefer to go sniper, but in zombie games and when I need a break in TF2, shotgun all the way.

In Halo I always equipped the shotgun and the pistol.

In those rare circumstances that I've needed range in a zombie game, the pistol has been more than adequate.
SlappyMcGee wrote:That speed means that, at close range, it's preferable to stick with the melee weapons, because otherwise you're going to get fucked.
But, see, I've only ever felt fucked at close range when I had an Uzi. It takes so many rounds to any individual zombie to stop him coming at you, whereas the stopping power of the shotgun takes apart a charging line of undead instantly. I'm a little OCD about keeping a full mag and so I reload at every opportunity, and so I don't often get into situations where I have things in front of me but no slugs to put into them at the ready. One round takes out multiple zombies, and even with the pump-action, I go through zombies faster than with the Uzi.
And of course I agree about the second-tier shotgun. Taking on entire waves by your lonesome becomes trivially easy with that thing.

Besides which, I also end up making heavy use of the melee attack in L4D. It's hard to match the feeling that you're dominating which can only be attained by meleeing a zombie and distributing its torso across the wall behind it with a point-blank pump-shotty as it tries to stand back up.

somewhere between the M4 Carbine, the Revolver and some good ol fashioned "Rape-Stick"... i gotta love a good melee. Never did like the melee mechanic in TF2 (and i gave up on CSS... ), but in CoD, Halo, F.E.A.R. Combat, and BF i can get 7 peeps in a row if im lucky.

You know, you really should add a Partical Cannon option... that gun owns ALL. PERIOD.

I have to agree with atob, the Halo: CE pistol is one of my favourite video game weapons of all time.

Apart from that, I prefer either a semi-auto/bolt-action rifle or pistol. I've never been all that great at close-range, and "spray-and-pray" never appealed to me either.

Winning CS:Source combo: Glock, TMP, and a smoke grenade. No armor, cuz that shit's for pussies, and you move faster without it.*

*By "move," I of course mean, "transition into the next life."

Well I get a real pleasure out of direct hits with rocket launcher style weapons.

But I have to go for other, because mines are just the best in multiplayer scenarios. Any type of mine will do, but I prefer the remotely detonated variety.

I'm an all rounder with pretty much all the weapons in FPS games except grenades.
I'd have to say the pistol is my favorite, even though in many games it is not worth it simply because-
I just happen to think that pistols are especially classy.
I'm also quite good with the rocket launcher but only in tf2.

Orange- N cannot be spoken, or even thought about in my household. If my parents ever found out that I have played N since the cleansing, my life would be ruined. I keep the game in a multi-passworded .rar on a USB flash drive inside a locked boron alloy container that requires two keys to open (I keep one under the 64th hammer in my piano, and the other one in a small section of removable ceiling in the corner of the attic) hidden in a wall compartment lined with aluminium foil to prevent sonar detection behind my 375 kg cupboard, which is bolted to the floor - the only way to reach it is to abseil outside the fourth floor window and use a screwdriver to unfasten the screws holding the secret brick in place on the opposite side of the wall, but the screwdriver must be a specific type like the one I own, since if any other screwdriver comes into contact with the screws, the entire building will explode, as will a seperate charge placed inside the boron alloy container, rendering the USB useless. Even once the container is retrieved, attemping to open it without the arming pin in place (which is kept inside the battery compartment of my Maglite) will cause the water reservoirs lining the container to burst and react with the caesium lining, causing the container to burst into flames - the only way to prevent this is to use the arming pins to shut off the reservoirs with a sliding steel door. The USB itself contains an accelerometer linked to an explosive charge, meaning that if the USB detects its own movement speed as being greater than 5 cm/s, it will explode - any person attempting to steal it would have to move at a uselessly slow speed. Once plugged into a computer, the USB will upload a ghost virus onto it, leaving no traces. Only the right password can deactivate this virus, and if it is left on the computer for more than six hours, it will format all drives.

As you can see, I take my N playing very seriously.

Guiseppi- I'd much rather watch animals get boned in the ass.

Yanni- If it's glad, it's not rape.

Tsukatu- I refuse to use throw-away bags for such a frequent purpose as buying groceries. Instead, I've collected the hair of my two pet dogs and have woven them together into an all-natural, 100% environmentally friendly bag that I bring with me everywhere. And when I buy products that come in glass and plastic containers, I track down the company that packages them and ship back their containers so that they don't take up space in landfills.

Yeah, I use plastic.

Tsukatu- I hear Ebony Online is great, too. Cum save your princess, my lord!

Ska- UR MUM LIKE IS SPICY

Ska- why d i get the feeling what i typed will end up in the quote depository; or worse: someone's sig.

KinGAleX- I did it on the couch a little while ago.
