Classics that -NEED- to be brought to modern consoles.

You know about Virtual Console, PsONE Classics, and whatever it does that Microsoft does to sate your nostalgic gaming. So, which games are missing from the pantheon of classics?

I really, really, really desire Tomba as a PSOne classic. Just about the best game I've ever played.

Edit: And Dino Crisis!

I remember Tomba, it was fun. Hmm, has Ape Escape been remade? I loved all the little gadgets you used in that game.

Edit: Pyschonauts and Jet Set Radio Future need sequels.

Psychonauts is most notable for its negative reception and poor ratings - considered to be one of the worst video games of all time.

It is an interesting topic however because it received reasonably high first week sales, then sharply declining. This is due to the fact that the product's advertising budget was higher than its development budget - they spent more advertising the thing than they did making it.

Psychonauts is also what made me confirm that the televsion network G4 TV is extremely biased toward their network sponsors; the company paid them a ton of money and they gave Psychonauts the best reviews and primetime coverage.

I don't know about Jet Set Radio - it might indeed be in need of a remake.

However, one of the best games to be re-made is already out.
I so want to play the Wii remake of Punch Out! I've read about it and it looks like it is very accurate to the original classic and it looks like it's pretty fun.

edit:
Oh and it's been the rumor for a long time that there would be a remake - not a sequel - a remake of Final Fantasy 7. I don't know how true these "through the grapevine" rumors are, but I think it would do very well. Most Final Fantasy fans know that 7 was possibly the best - a lot of folks like FF10 as well.

errrm. No? Psychonauts received nearly universal praise on all consoles: ( http://www.metacritic.com/games/platfor ... sychonauts ). Not to mention it truly is a fantastic game, which I can attest to.

Is the original Half-Life considered a classic yet? It's more than a decade old.
I feel bad that my last attempt at playing through it had to be cut short because I just couldn't stand the simplistic, blocky graphics. I had the game a short time after it came out, so I do remember being impressed by the graphics then, but like I said, it's a decade old now. I'm not hardcore enough to hop smoothly from post-Crysis graphics back to GoldSrc.
Similarly, I want to see Deus Ex ported to Source or Unreal3.

Otherwise, I think some games would be better had they been made for older consoles. I'd've been much more interested in Twilight Princess had it come out for the N64.

Ooh, and Goldeneye 007. I'm still surprised that Goldeneye: Source isn't more popular.

I agree with all of this, except that Twilight Princess is Jesus.

The problem is that Half-Life isn't that great of a game by modern standards. The level design is okay, but modern bad games have equally good level design with better AI.

That being said, Deus Ex, while not looking as good as it used to, is a friggin' fantastic game on all counts.

I have to agree with SlappyMcGee, Half Life 2 is one of the greatest games ever and the games made with its engine (notably Team Fortress 2 and Portal) are just as great.
But Half Life 1 is just not as great as its successor. It is sort of a "just another shooter" in some ways. Oh it has a pretty cool story and a very cool setting, but its gameplay is somewhat generic.

You know I never thought about that. I had hoped to see Twilight Princess use a different game engine that we've seen for much too long - that game engine was freakin revolutionary at the time but it's always time to see something new.

Don't get me wrong, Twilight Princess is a *great* game - I loved it - but it does seem like an overhauled N64 game. I would like to see the next Zelda title being different and newer than the old tired system.

Also, Twilight Princess was ultimately a GameCube game ported to Wii. I understand the reasoning for that, but it made the game pretty much a really great GameCube title.

You know so many people disliked Majora's Mask and I understand why, but I enjoyed it. It wasn't pure greatness, but I enjoyed it.

Re-make of Spyro PS1 games with same controls, characters, etc. Just updated graphics. NO DON'T MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE THE NEW SPYRO.

A [good Crash Bandicoot game would be nice. The original ones were amazing.

Klonoa [Original & Lunatea's Veil] (On the PS3)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

And what's this Psychonauts hate? I find it an awesome and creative game.

Nah, man. I think Zelda suffers when you upscale the graphics / general detail. Twilight Princess might be a good game, but for lack of a better word, the expansion on graphical and thematic details really fagged that game up. Link in Ocarina of Time was a major-league badass. In Twilight Princess, he's closer to furry fruitcake. Although I will admit that I'll most likely end up playing it and loving it. But it will be reluctant! Reluctant, I say!

Yeah, but it's not out yet. It needs to be. And that's when I'll totally play it.

Epona's Song was the anthem for heterosexuality in the nineties.

Cuz a ho made that shit. You gotta play that shit up to get trim. They love it.
You'll notice that when bitches aren't around, Link's activities include entering a volcano to brutally murder an undead dragon with a sledgehammer.

Yes, I agree

Half Life was a fantastic game. Best game ever. Anybody who hasn't played it needs to do so immediately, and then get on with excitedly anticipating the black mesa mod.

Oh God.

This game. This game shaped my childhood. There was an attempt by Microsoft to remake it but it was scrapped because it looked too much like Halo. At least they should redo the graphics and fix up the music a bit and just make it a platformer, because this game was good (if not hard at times).

Animator that has been re-released on PS3 and 360 on the sonic's ultimate genesis collection (or Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection in PAL regions).

Any ways I think Nintendo should release a Metroid collection on the DS like the Prime collection on the wii with the first 4 games on it (Metroid, Metroid 2 return of samus, super metroid, metroid fusion) as the DS cartridges can handle that much. They could leave the original graphics or update them. It'd sell really well I think.

What about Tomba 2? D:

And maybe Jumping Flash, Twisted Metal 2, Pilot Wings 64, and Beetle Adventure Racing.

Maybe. Although, a minority of us disregard that game because it didn't damn well have Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

Speaking of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, an idea that has gotten around would be "What if they remade Sonic 3 and Knuckles using the Hedgehog Engine?". The idea there would be based off of Sonic Unleashed - the Daytime stages equating to the Sonic levels and the Nighttime stages becoming levels for Knuckles.

And then there's the Sonic 2 HD fan-project. If that came out on a console (i.e. Xbox Live Arcade), it would be awesome.

Also, it would be very good if Nintendo was to do a compilation of games like SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection. It'd probably sell pretty well; SEGA does them all the time, which must show that they're profitable. And to have a Nintendo compilation of their best NES/SNES games would be brilliant.
