I hate 3rd person cameras on video games

I hate 3rd person cameras on video games because they are the worst invention for gaming. It works on some game the the new 007 game Quantiun of solice, but for gta4 it sucks. IT IS ALLWAYS IN THE WAY.
What do you think?

Metroid Prime series is an FPS. Metroid is a sick series nonetheless, though.

Zelda OH YEAH! Yeah man, I've played nearly every Zelda game out there. One of the best.

Also, in First Person, unless you have a radar like in Metroid, you can't see if an enemy or whatever is sneaking up behind you.

GEARS OF WAR WORKS PERFECTLY BECAUSE THE CAMERA FOLLOWS THEY GUY WITHOUT YOU HAVING TO ADJUST THE CAMERA MANUALLY.

Anyway, third person camera works fine as long as it's implemented well. Since you keep coming back to GTA4, perhaps the real issue is that it was not implemented well in that particular case.

...are you suggesting that you should be able to see through the back of your head? The real problem is that you have no peripheral vision. Unless you're just saying that third person can be an advantage because it lets you see more of your surroundings (which is of course one of the reasons it is used).

QFE, I was just about to say something like that. 3rd person cameras (like pretty much anything else) are only as bad as their implementations. There have been good uses of 3rd person, and bad uses. You could say the same for 1st person cameras.

and theres assassins creed, fallout 3 (optional), SW: jedi academy.... and dude, ALL the gta's were 3rd person, not just 4. plus theres a zoom out function.

3rd person kicks ass for when your playing a game where you need eyes in the back of your head.

In shooters, I feel that third person only really works in single player, and even then i prefer first person. When it comes to multiplayer, first person feels much more natural to me...

In Rpg's i do love a bit of third person, especially to check out your characters kick ass armour...

Your point is still valid though, GTA has been third person ever since GTAIII on consoles. Sides if you want to play GTAIV in first person get it for PC since there's a first person mod.

That is so true what you said about surroundings, I use that alot when I play online. It helps alot when your behind a wall. So meany people squat and waddle a long trying to find a spot to shot you. That is the stupidest thing to do.
