Due to the fact that he's the reason why video-games are still around today (it was Super Mario Bros that ended the Video Game Crash).

He's the man that created Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, and various other Nintendo Franchises. He's even got a popular video game character based on his personality (Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series). He was also invovled with the development of the Wii.

So I'm going to have to say that Shigeru Miyamoto is also my favourite.

Companies? Then Insomniac (mainly for the Spyro games), SEGA (for their brilliant arcade games, mainly), Sonic Team (if not glaringly obvious from the signature), Nintendo, Ensemble Studios (if they were around anymore), Intelligent Systems (Kinda Nintendo, but what the hell), Infinity Ward, Valve...

Those are all I can remember for now.
