Before I start. I do not support using ROMs of Copyrighted Games in any way, all opinions are my own and do not express anyone else's.

Ok. This ROM hack is a conversion of Pokémon Fire Red to run through the Pokémon Gold storyline and game world. There are a few bugs, there are a few problems, and it's still beta, but so far it's great. As long as you've got a GBA Emulator you can play it. Even on a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch.
Zel (The Producer) wrote:Hi everyone, Zel here, yeah... I guess it was time to change the Intro I had like... forever... If you are here, probably it was because you've been hearing about "Shiny Gold" around the web. Well, I'm the guy behind the creation of this rom hack. It's not a fake game! (at least to me...)
Still, everyone knows that I'm not a God of hacking... I still consider myself as a hacker-in-training, learning stuff trying to improve the game. Even when I'm basically a Scripter, I try to do other stuff as best as I can.
This was supposed to be a one person project, but it quickly became popular (maybe too much...?), so lots of people want to help, and I'll use anybody's help as soon as I feel like I need help.
OK, I think that's enough about me, so let's talk about the game!

I played through the most recent version of this. It's very good, which is why I yelled at my computer when I got to the door to Victory Road, only to find it locked. It was a great game while it lasted, though.

Ah yes, I'm currently playing this and it's quite good. Some of the errors/bugs, such as the screwed up map/Fly locations, are bothersome, but these aren't really the creator's fault, and such a large project with so much effort put into it certainly deserves praise.

Bug... Pokémon?
Those stupid Ledbya owning me with Tackle...

It can take like 10 minutes just to push the OCD Spearow into the right spot so he'll go back and you can get the Cut HM. It sometimes goes in the wrong direction repeatedly due to how the channels between the trees are setup. Also in GSC, Ilex Forest acted like a cave because you could be attacked at any time. The dude worked around this by coding every square to show the rustling of grass when you walk but if you look around it appears as if there is no grass to begin with. Eh, nothing really game breaking, it's just things that need to be fixed. Messing with game code is prone to bad things happening.

This has been tiding me over until I get my paws on Platinum.

Pretty good, actually.
