...good freeware first person shooters? The only requirements be that it has to be able to run pn a not-so decent computer.

The ones I know of (and have played) are:

Tremulous
Combat Arms
Urban Terror
System Shock 2
Wolfenstein ET

In no particular order. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!~

Open Arena brings back memories of Quake 3 Arena, you should check that out.

I'm sure there was a list of freeware/opensource games on wikipedia somewhere...

Quake Live, which is essentially a free-to-play online version of Quake 3 Arena, goes into open beta tomorrow.
Operation7 is in open beta.
I haven't played either game, so I can't say much about them.

Sauerbraten is one of the best free games I've played and it runs on pretty much every computer while still looking decent. Also the editor mode is simply brilliant, I recommend goofing around with it.

Warsow. Exclusively multiplayer, it should run well on an old computer. Although it's not exactly my favourite (It's focused on competitive gaming too much), I play it from time to time.

Then, Half-Life 2:Deathmatch can be acquired for free if you have an ATI or Nvidia graphics card, a Steam account is required, but that's free as well. About performance, I can't really tell if your computer will run it, but it should be no problem if it isn't older than 4 years, maybe you should post your specs.

These are the only worthwhile ones I know of.

Assault cube.

I added a link to the game, just to make things easier. ~Snuggletummy.

I'll second Sucker's recommendations and raise you a Nexuiz. My best friend helped with the 2D graphics for it, as well! ^-^

I can't run WolfEt. Every time I log on to a server, I get "Could not connect: Insufficient OS/Privileges." Which doesn't make sense, since I'm on an Admin profile, but does make sense, since I'm on Vista. :/. I used to play it all the time when I had XP on my other machine. Which is now broken. Yeah. Looking back, I probably should have out that on my list.

Assault Cube doesn't work for me, either. Probably the same problems as before. I haven't checked the rest of them out, but I'll try. Again, thanks for all of the suggestions.

Look here.

Possibly something to do with punkbuster (as it needs full admin rights) and malware (blocking those rights). Unlikely, but you never know.

Nah, tanneR, I had nothing to do with the graphics for Nexuiz.

I also recommend Skulltag. Sure, you have to have Doom, but the game is incredibly cheap nowadays, and the endless amounts of mods and whatnot make up for it.

How could I forget about that? It's one of the best multiplayer FPS games I've played.
I think Battlefield Heroes deserves a mention, even though it's third person instead of first person and it's still in beta.

In no way is it possible for me to run F.E.A.R on this PC. It's barely fast enough to run Vista on two profiles (which it's always on, since my mom and I have to share).

Battlefield Heroes looks awesome. It reminds me a lot of TF2. It's prolly the graphics, as it' all cartoonish. But a third person BF? Hrm. Still, though. I'll have to check it out sometime.
