are you kidding? that was the WORST sound track ever. The only good part was the second world thing, that water place. The boss battles were ok, just nowhere as good as any other game.

I think Unleashed is the best not including the old Genesis kinds

What I know is that most of the musics for Sonic are great, fantastic and really go with the game.

I'm talking about sounds like Sonic 1,2,3.
Live and Learn (the music from a Sonic game I don't know which, I forgot, heard it on SSBB and played it on Frets on Fire),
Soundtrack for Sonic and the Secret Rings
fits really great with the game too.
There are many others.

Sonic 1, 2, and 3's music was nice.

Then again, are we too old to like Sonic?

Live and Learn is awesome. It's from Sonic Adventure 2. One of Crush 40's best songs, if you ask me. Sonic 3's soundtrack is supposed to have some songs written by Michael Jackson; there are some references to his songs in the music (bass line to Ice Cap Zone is similar to Smoothe Criminal, that wierd sound in Carnival Night Zone, and the chord progression to the ending music is the same as that from MJ's Stranger in Moscow).

Jus Senoue (the lead guitarist of Crush 40 and Sound Director of SA, SA2 and Heroes as far as I'm aware) was the sound director for SatBK, so expect some brilliant music in Black Knight as well.

Do you mind elaborating on that? Do you mean too old as in it's childish or too old as in the glory days have passed, and you don't like the new stuff because it's nothing like the old stuff?

I got a comment from another forum that I was too old to like Sonic because it was childish.
I don't like the new stuff because it's just too flashy and washy. Also, my dad has trained me to hate video games, he took my console away from me when I was 7. I don't really play games anyway, except on the emulator when I feel like it. I remember Sonic because I always liked his old games, the new games have lost their charm and now plastered with stupid characters and stupid plots. I do like SatSR from playing at my friend's house, it has a stupid story but nice gameplay.
Seriously though, I'm not a true gamer. I hardly play games, I just like Sonic because it's a different game.

EDIT: May I also point out that Shadow has really made me not like the Sonic series. Either it's his stupid personality. Eh, I'm a very strange gamer anyway.

Of course NOT! I hate to hear those kind of things.

I mean, can't I just sit on one of the couches in the school and play Knytt, Super Mario or Sonic without hearing the "childish" comments (and playing Doom without hearing "WHAT THE FUCK! THAT GAME HAS NO GRAPHICS! THAT SUX!" Then they usually laugh. I just ignore them, and KILL SOME MOTHERFUCKING ZOMBIE-THINGS).

God, just because it's old, and because of an old stereotype that older gaming consoles are only for the child (therefore, Sonic is childish).

Kill me for saying this, but I prefer the 3D games over the classic 2D ones. The 2D ones were repetitive and quickly got stale and boring. The music was never captivating for me, either. To me, it's risen when it got to 3D, but falling down since the release of Sonic Rush Adventure and Sonic Unleashed.

3d, eh? Youtube Sonic 06. Then you'll learn the error of your ways...

I don't see what you mean by repetative; you could then say in the same sense that the original Mario Bros was repetative due to you just running and jumping on peoples' heads. The old Sonic games I don't find that repetative; each level's got it's own gimmick and a new trap or device to make use of.

How could you say Unleashed is going down? After Sonic 06, anything is up...

That's because they like their graphics; not the game itself. Or their after the most flashy game on the market. People like this are just stupid - they don't care where the roots are, they just want the new stuff.

Dude, I'm not a rabid sonic fan. While I disagree totally with you opinion and have a different view, it's your opinion, so I don't mind one bit. The only people that would mind are stupid retards who just base their life on Sonic.
Drathmoore wrote:

It's his opinion in the first place, so it's not an error. 3D sonic hasn't got 1 game in it's library, Sonic Adventure was a good game IMO, but I don't like the ones after that.

I agree with you. Graphics are definitely not the most important part of the game - the gameplay is. Any fool should recognize this, otherwise they suck as a gamer and are therefore worse than me. If I bought a very good game with shit graphics, and an abysmal game with great graphics, I would know which one I would prefer myself.

Of course, I'm talking about people who think graphics are more important than gameplay that suck as gamers.

Right then. Yes, I know, bump and all that, but it's for a reason.

Project Needlemouse

Now, as a few people may know, this was the codename given to the first Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Mega Drive/Genesis (considering the fact that Sonic's original name was Mr. Needlemouse). Also, notice the logo at the end? I originally thought that was a mouse, personally; a possible new character. But, this GIF image gives an interesting view on the topic.

Could this be a remake of Sonic 1, using the Hegdehog Engine? Could this be the return of Classic Sonic?

Could this be the reboot of the franchise that people have been waiting for?

I personally think it won't just be a remake of Sonic 1, if it turns out to be one. Sonic 1 is a short game on it's own; by modern standards you'd need to throw in the Death Egg saga (Sonic 2, 3, and Knuckles) to get a decent length (not a bad thing, if you ask me). I'd also like to see new levels, optional characters, etc. But, overall this looks like it could be interesting. There isn't a lot of information on it at this point (the only thing available is the trailer), so not much can be seen of the actual game, apart from the fact that it will have an emphisis on speed (which a Sonic game should do).

So, any thoughts? What would you like to see in this upcoming game? Do you like the idea?

Not a remake, but a new one?
I really think the symbol was from the original sonic starting screen.

I SO want this when it comes out!

Hmm... Considering that recently the 2D Sonic games (well, the Rush series) have been made by Dimps... It might be that they're working on this one. Possibly.

Or, it could be SEGA themselves. And... Thinking about it... There's no real story to screw up; Eggman/Robotnik will probably be the final boss; they might finally bring back Super Sonic to in-game levels (as opposed to just the final boss... And what about Hyper Sonic as well?)...

We'll have to see how this pans out really. The lack of information means for now we can only speculate...

Why leave? Sonic Heroes was pretty good, if you ask me (apart from some of the script... God. "We're Sonic Heroes!"...).

I would expect Special Stages... But nothing has been released about the game, so I'm unsure. However... Whether Super Sonic will be in the game is questionable. If it is a Sonic 1 remake, then it's possible he won't be in the game.

Bump!
*Gasp!*
Double-post!
*Double-Gasp!*

Yes. Project Needlemouse has been unveiled. Say hello to:
Image

Yes, an all new 2D game. Even more, it's a direct sequel to Sonic 3 and Knuckles. What does that mean? Well, I'd speculate:

2D stages. Yes, it's old-school Sonic.
Super Sonic - If it's a sequel, what do you expect.
Dr Robotnik/Eggman = Final Boss - Finally...
Special Stages - Love 'em or Hate 'em, it's Emerald Collecting time.

It is being released for Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3, via online services. And, as the image shows, it is Episodic, meaning that instead of getting as many characters as possible to fill out the game, and have enough content for a 50 Pound/$60 game, it's just Sonic. I think the price is speculated at $15 an episode. They've also stated that it will be similar in the fact that Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles were like 2 parts of a larger story, and so it seems like Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is going to follow in the same way.
