After we hit 16 (We might have it now, but we'll see), I'll wait for 48 hours to see who else is going to be in, an then we'll begin!

I'm down, and I can probably assist you with setup stuff if you'd like.

Sweet. That's 16. LouDog - If you can jump on IRC or some other venue where we can chat more quickly, that'd be great. Otherwise, I'll PM you, and we'll see what we can do from there.

If you haven't registered, but still want to participate, by all means sign up - If we get 32 people registered, we'll do five rounds - Otherwise, we'll do a solid 4.

The tournament rules will go up in approximately 50 hours from this post. If you have any questions about tournament format between now and then, how things go, what to expect, and so on, feel free to ask!

Just curious...
I remember when doing MTG on my computer (a while back) debating whether to use Apprentice or Magic Workstation...
Do they both use the same protocol (can one use Magic Workstation instead of Apprentice)?
I vaguely remember MWS's interface being more appealing than Apprentice's.

I think it is - for this tournament, we'll use Apprentice, but we'll look into Magic Workstation for next tournament, for sure.

If you want more players, I could be down. Also, the dude I told you about from school will probably be interested, and I'll send him a link shortly and tell him what to do and all that.

So today I downloaded and set up Apprentice.
I first tried to connect from Apprentice to MWS... Erroring out. I figured, "Well shucks, I guess that means no MWS, then." So then to make sure that Apprentice was working, I ran two instances and call one with the other.
"
Parse Error: Can't locate start of Command
Data: (garbled mess)version-number ver:"1.45"
"
So connecting doesn't work, and closing the connection on either side leads the other to a series of error boxes containing the same message from above. Is this an Apprentice error (I downloaded the latest), or simply a conflict caused from running two instances?

It sounds like a problem with running two instances and trying to connect to itself. When you connect via the Hamachi network or directly to your opponent, it should be fine.

Jig: I do want more players, 32 would be ideal, but we can run with what we've got now just fine.

Aiight. Count me out. And the dude I told you about uses a Mac, so apparently he can't run Apprentice. *shrug* All fine by me. I want to play the game in a more comfortable environment anyway, before I go joining tourneys. So, go ahead without me on this one.

Noob Question: The card limit is 4, but I can have more than 4 of each land card, right?

Yes, basic lands (cards named Plains, Island, Swamp, Forest or Mountain) are exempt from the usual card limit.

If you've somehow got more than four of a non-basic land (eg. Fairy Conclave) you can only have four copies in. I really, really doubt that will be the case for anyone in this tournament, though.

bufar, Palemoon, darkshadow - You three are the only three left to submit decklists to me. Make sure you get 'em in by tonight, as round 1 pairings will be going up soon! If you need help, feel more than free to ask. As of this post, you've got about 18 hours for deckbuilding.

Also, if you're sending me questions via PM, I'm not opening the PMs that could be decklists, so if I haven't responded to a question of yours, send me another PM entitled Question or Help! And I'll open it then. =D

Also, the way the tournament is set up, it's functionally impossible to have more than 3 of any given card, and even in the instance that you get 4 of a single card, it would have to be a common, and none of the nonbasics in 10th edition are common, beyond Terramorphic Expanse.
