Don't worry, we won't tread that close to the line. Just a little hypothetical chat.

Obviously I'll still be picking up a solid copy of the game on release. Tempted to pre-order this as well if I have the cash.

I'm up to the Radio Tower now, an awesome new start to the actual section of the game (No you can't just waltz into the tower).

Team at present.

Feraligatr - Lv.32
Ampharos - Lv.31
Haunter - Lv.29
Vulpix - Lv.29
Pidgeotto - Lv.29
Gyarados - Lv.30 (Filler, it's the red one).

Right. Release dates for those that are interested:

US Release: 14th March
AUS/NZ Release: 25th March
EUR Release: 26th March

Anyone interested in having matches via Nintendo WFC after this comes out?

Hells yeah.

I'm not gonna get the emu though, cause
1) even if I order it, it's still kinda gray
2) wpc
3) viruses!

=P and I don't want to have to buy a flash-cart to transfer the memory.

1 question though:

On platinum pokesav, it had the "save file" function. (Hypothetically) could you rip the save from an emulator and then use an AR code to load it? It's different from ripping the save from a DScart, but how would I go about doing that if I wanted to and let's say (hypothetically) HG/SS pokesav has that function. Would that be possible, and how would I rip the save using no$gba?

You're welcome. =P

But I'm not sure if, hypothetically, anyone here can answer that question. So, Google would be your best bet.

Right here's something. Once you've beaten Clair and got the 8th badge you cannot head to Kanto. Kotone will prevent you as soon as you approach the water, this is signalling that you have to catch Lugia/Ho-oh BEFORE the Elite Four.

Not just that, you can't just waltz into the Whirl Islands/Tin Tower and catch them. In order for them to appear you have to beat the Kimono Girls in an Elite 4 style now, but there's five of them. And all their Eeveelutions are Lv.38. And you can't heal between battles.

Still, once done head to wherever as usual and battle your legendary. That's what I am doing now.

Another note here, evolution stones. Only way to get one before the elite four is via the pokethlon. So get playing that, if you can win it only takes 6 or so games.

Rhekatou you could transfer the save file to a flash cart and use it there but there's no way to do it using action replay on a legit cart as far as i know.

So, I've got to Victory Road, seems pretty normal and similar. Bit underlevelled though so gonna have to grind levels. Might get some stuff over from Pearl/Platinum as well to be a bitch >:D

K, just wondering if I could start now and continue later. Darn.

Aww man the stones suck. I did the Kimono Girls like the Elite Four in normal gold though, so it's not much of a problem.

Darn, I need to finish Gold. It's been sitting in a drawer with all around lvl. 45 waiting for me to finish training and take on the Elite Four. o_O

I'm going to pick up my copy of Heart Gold on March 14 and stream it via Ustream over spring break. I'm actually playing Silver right now, trying to solo the game with Chikorita.

Ok a quick update from me here. Just beaten the Elite 4, also if you need to grind levels the best place is below the Safari Zone.

Feraligatr Lv.49
Pidgeot Lv. 43
Rhydon Lv. 42
Ampharos Lv.42
Ninetales Lv.45
Lugia Lv.45

Unlocking stuff in Safari Zone then going over to Kanto!

Yeah that's easy. You can solo any of them with anything. Because anything works in game.

Just that Chikorita is a PoS in game on GSC.

Is the old GSC cloning trick still in the game? I'd be disappointed but not terribly surprised if they'd taken it out D:

Aah... The Madkip Challenge.

Chase, I believe Rhekatou is actually referring to the fact that you can beat the game with just Mudkip - it learns all the HMs necessary to complete the game.

Oh wait so not letting it evolve either? So that means making it hold an everstone? That's bad already because you can't use Ice Beam + NeverMeltIce for Faux STAB ;P

In Vermilion Gym.

Naw you gotta let it evolve or you can't beat Drake.
Just teach it ice beam or blizzard.
But yes, it learns the hms (fly isn't really necesary, just convienent.
And it's great cause it's ground type too when a Swampert.
