I do not like Halo. Three main reasons:
i. There are no bots in multiplayer mode.
ii. I will never be a fan of a game that encourages you to run away and hide when you get hurt.
iii. Only holding two weapons at once.

Ice Climbers are awesome. Deal with it.

It should be noted that the opinions expressed below come from someone who considers himself a competitive Halo player. While single player can be entertaining, I spend a monumentally larger amount of time playing multiplayer. So, here goes;
Halo 1 is fantastic. I still occasionaly play campaign (which is saying something) and LAN multiplayer with friends as frequently as possible.
Halo 2 is good. The complexities of the multiplayer helped for the most part, while some of the new aspects (removal of the H1 pistol/AR, and the nerfing of the Plasma Rifle) greatly hindered the gameplay. The game was overall a large step down from it's predecessor, but because I played using MLG settings in custom games and only went into Team Hardcore matchmaking, I was able to eliminate most of the BS and play a more balanced, competitive game.
For those who aren't familiar with MLG (Major League Gaming), it's a company that has gained massive popularity recently for holding video-game tournaments. Halo 1 was originally the only game on their circut, but with the release of Halo 2 they made the switch in an effort to gain a larger audience of gamers.
Halo 3 is solid, but to be completely honest, I can hardly stand the game with default settings. There are just too many easy routes to take when acquiring kills. To mantain proper debate rhetoric I'm going to refrain from using the word "cheap" outright, but there is no denying that Bungie specifically nerfed the entire multiplayer game to put players of different skill levels on a more even playing field. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC BEHIND THIS DECISION. I am in no way blaming them for creating a game that players of all skill levels and ages can enjoy. From a commercial standpoint this decision was a no brainer, but I had a small shred of hope that they might disregard sales for one moment and return Halo to its former SMG-free glory.
Sorry for any typos or grammatical errors.

1. And yet there are so many servers online? Just go to a nub server or somthing lol. i mean hell, the example i linked down below was made on a server i put up 10 min ago XD.Condog wrote:I do not like Halo. Three main reasons:

2. *cough* dunno how you play but if its fps imma run and gun... shield or no shield. just some point where shit can get hairy in single player where you have to duck your head every once and awhile.
3. You need more then 2? O_o
..ahem.
YAY!
for halo 1 + 2... not 3 cause i havn't beat it. The online community can suck at times tho, but the custom edition kicks ASS on big maps with people. I was in a short lived clan where we would focus on flying vehicles and gundem/mechs/walkers in huuUUUUUUUUuuge maps XD.

It's fun, I like it. Is that enough, another example of 'I don't care what others think, if I like it it's enough for me.'
Also the SMG is win, and the BR is overrated even though it's good, there are plenty of other weapons available for use, get a Carbine, it kills faster.

I prefer the BR over Carbine except in no-shield games. I'm not sure why, but it's probably because it feels more satisfying to me to fire it.Chase wrote:It's fun, I like it. Is that enough, another example of 'I don't care what others think, if I like it it's enough for me.'

I'd have to side with Chase here; I prefer the Carbine when I can get one just because it's quicker at medium range. For long range I'd choose the BR because three bullets increase the chance of actually hitting someone, but whenever I can I'll try and get the carbine.PsychoSnail wrote:I prefer the BR over Carbine except in no-shield games. First of all, I only played Halo 1: Combat Evolved
Character? C'mon, Master Chief isn't enough for that? The story is good, really good actually. While I was playing it, I had that "feeling of being into the game".
I still play it occasionally.
I highly disagree with you.GTM wrote:that lacks depth and character in single player.

Maybe I should have phrased that better; I was referring to the single player gameplay, as opposed to storyline, although even that isn't particularly well done either, imo. The gameplay's fine, but it rarely changes from "shoot these guys and press this button" in different, albeit fun guises. That, and the gameplay doesn't feel exactly unique to me. Although Halo 1 had a lot of innovative features back then, things have jumped on the bandwagon so much it's not as impressive to me anymore :/

What? Master Chief is a cardboard cutout ("I'm a super-soldier, and I shoot aliens." Gee, I've never heard that one before...) and the story is cliche ("Aliens are attacking humans. Only you can save mankind. Also there are evil parasite things."), at least as far as the first game goes. I mean, it's presented well enough, but it's not exactly innovative or anything.Donfuy wrote:I highly disagree with you.GTM wrote:that lacks depth and character in single player.

Also, Cortana would have been a much better character example than Master Chief, since she actually, y'know, talks and has a personality and things like that.

Well too many people claim them to be the best RPGs ever when they really aren't ._. I love my JRPGs as much as anyone, but imo they can't compete with less linear RPGs - it feels more RPGish and satisfying.deltainferno wrote:3 things:

Yup.- GTAIV was the most overhyped game EVER.
I didn't buy it just because my friends are (which is why i'm not getting halo wars). I got it because it was fun to play with my friends. There is a key difference there.- and i think halo 3 is a great game, but i dont see the point of buying a game just because either
a) your friends are buying it
b)people have said it is a good game even though you have never played a similar game in your life.

Well first of all the graphics. Sure they are pretty good but not anything like Call of Duty or Metriod Prime 3. Most of the buildings are these absolute perfect structures with no rubble, or evidence of anything even existing there before. Have some more atmosphere.
Second of all (something that someone else stated) is that you can only carry two guns at one time. I like being able to switch in between a large amount of guns that fit the situation I'm in not just two that you must have out the entire time.
Then the actual body movements of the characters are really lame. Like, I just got shot but I am still holding my gun in the exact same position as before or I jumped of a 10 foot platform but landed perfectly. They need to be a little more animated in my opinion.
Then I just suck at Halo. ._.

ive played halo wars and heres what i hav to say, the campaign is a little annoying(but i dont like any campaigns) but the multiplayer is great but the only downside is that once u beat the enemy army you just stand there for 10 minutes shooting a building, its kind of annoying but wutevr.

I think Halo's weapon limit works well. Which weapons you carry is a strategic choice - you can't just reach into your hyperspace arsenal to pull out whatever you need.spudzalot wrote:Second of all (something that someone else stated) is that you can only carry two guns at one time.
