An alternative rocket launcher.

For secondary, you'd think grenades because of the shotgun taunt, but we all know Valve doesn't make it this obvious.

And I've thought about Engineer - what the heck will he ever have for an update. The engineer's wrench and shotgun are really just for the purpose of repairing and defending his buildings.

The wrench might get an alternative, some sort of advantage/drawback sort of thing.

But will he have new or different buildings?
That will be a *huge* change to the game if this is so.

It's almost 100% certain to be Soldier.

Engie will likely be the last update. Engie is sorta the spine of the game--the first class created. The timing of the engineer serves as the basis for all other classes, in fact. It'll be a tough nut to crack.

It's my favorite strategy. I've never kept it up as long as they did, usually only lasts for one or two cycles. The only viable way to stop it is to retreat until it fully runs out and don't give the medics any targets. But most players, assuming that you "wasted" the uber, will sit around until it wears off so they can get an easy kill. How wrong they are to hang around for the infinite uber.

I love utterly destroying uber chain medics with my airblast. It's a rather pointless tactic, imo, I rarely see many kills made by a successfully sustained chain, and if the opposing team has a perceptive Pyro it's impossible for them to do anything.

It is fun to attempt it, though.

A pyro breaks it, yeah. I've found that demo is equally useful for screwing up an ubered pair, especially medic-demo. Lay some stickies under the two of them, wait for one to jump (usually the medic) and catapult them apart. It works surprisingly often and you don't even have to debase yourself by playing pyro.

It's predictable, but it's very reliable. If held with decent timing, the medics can do absolutely nothing but hold onto their remaining ubers for dear life knowing that once they run out the pyro is going to flame them to hell.

Goes tits up if the pryo runs out of gas, but as the chain usually happens well behind enemy lines, there's usually enough of a guarantee they'll be dead after the hold.

Even if they don't die, deflecting the brunt of a chain charge is reward in itself.

If it's obvious I'm not going to get anywhere with an ubered teammate, I just say my "Fugg yous" and bail on the guy. I'm cooler than he is anyway, I'm the medic.

Hopefully an Engineer update might include a different PDA with a different set of 4 buildings? I also considered that maybe he could have a unique weapon that uses metal for ammo (especially since once the nest is up your 200 metal is never used again)...

Airblasting ubers works best when the uber target is a Heavy, especially when they're attacking sentries. As soon as they come round the corner just blast 'em back.

The idling/halo update was funny at first. But looking at the Steam forums it seems like no one can take a joke...

Last thing: I've heard the Flare Gun being called a Tampon Gun. Discuss.

He does have those huge grenades strapped to him, but yeah we already see grenades from the demoman.


However, I sort of think some of the updates make a class behave more like another class.

For example the Scout update makes him behave a bit like a Spy
A scout can drink the energy drink, run behind enemy lines, and make 1-hit kills with the force-a-nature - just like a Spy.



Another thought is him having a Machine Gun - which would make him behave more like a Heavy.
It makes sense for a Soldier to carry an automatic gun, but at the same time every other update ever has been a variant on the existing weapon.
Maybe some kind of wide-spread rocket - or homing rocket!

I've considered a Strangelove rocket for the soldier. Right click to fire a rocket and ride on it to its destination, steering it around and stuff.

Another idea I had was a single free rocket jump. Right click for a one-use jump, like a rocket pack.

Oh, god. That single-use jetpack idea would be amazing. I have no idea what they'd do for the rocket launcher, however. The only thing I can think of is something similar to the FaN, as in, only two rockets, but they fire faster, and are more potent.
