But I don't have any idea which kind I should buy, or where I should buy it, or what is a good price...
Does anyone have any helps/tips/advice?

You should probably get the Elite. Way better than the other ones. Although it may be more expensive, it will be worth it.

Well, you need a hard drive. It's essential if you're going to play online. So if the elite isn't too expensive then get the standard (mid range) xbox.

There are only three to choose from.

I'd also recommend looking at your local games retailer for package deals etc...

What atob said.
The elite is too much, get the Pro (or whatever the mid range one is called)

I just bought an Arcade version (comes without a Harddrive) and a 20 gb harddrive for 200 dollars after shipping and handling. I got mine off Ebay from a reliable liquidator. No ring of death, and I love it. Even has refurbished fans.

I'd still go for the mid range with the 60 gig, whatever deal you can find that fits. 20gigs fills up very fast.

Just make sure you get a recent build.

I'd go with mid range. Ebay is always a good place to look.

If you can find an Elite bundle with games you know you're going to get, get that. I got the Elite about 3 weeks ago and the games (Halo 3 + Mass Effect) came with more than made up for the price difference (at their current retail price).

Check around for console deals first as you'll undoubtedly be wanting games for it and you can generally get consoles packaged with games for cheaper. Also yes get the mid range (pro) or high range (elite) console not the arcade.

New ones have a newer chip set which RRoDs a lot less (Like pretty much never) but the older ones with the older chip set RRoD a lot. I'd get new if I was you as you won't have to deal with Microsoft's shitty repair service (It took my friend 3 months to get his 360 repaired through them).

Definitely find out the build date that the newer chip set began from and take one after that. Especially if you're going to go used.

I'd also recommend buying with an extended warranty if you can, most retailers offer their own competitive guarantees (GAME in England have a great 3 year plan that's very cheap). It's worth spending the extra money imo. If you go used and get RRoD, you're pretty much screwed.
