Offline yes (hit start game and you're on your way) against computers no (or at least not until we code some bot AI)

Try now, hopefully the new master has fixed the issue, otherwise you'll have to wait until we set up the alternative server fetching system - it'll be less up to date but more reliable under stress.

Have a sticky, nice work. I've yet to try it but from what I've glanced at I'd see about focusing on what makes your game different from Minecraft and Terraria. That said really nice entry in to this 'new' genre.

edit: Just started the game up, it doesn't fit in any x by 768 resolution or lower.

edit2: Oh god that's a lot of screen tearing, V-sync option please.

Anyway, yeah, I've actually been playing this quite a fuckload lately. I've even found some servers that go up to 64 players, and sometimes 128 player, and let's face it, that becomes even more hectic. The only thing I wish for is basically what LF said above me, although I personally want support for my current resolution.

What res do you use? You can edit the autoconfig.gm script to modify the resolution manually, and vsync should be on by default so I'm concerned about the tearing. non-default resolutions cause funny rendering at times (depending on your openGL implementation -> on your drivers) but whatever. There's a bunch of other handy options in there that we're yet to add to the GUI (like, basically all of them) so have a poke around.

Glad you like it, Snuggletummy. Hope to see you in-game ;)

More or less self explanatory.
We're leaning more towards a 1-flag mode for this release (and possibly all following free releases, we'll see how that goes) to keep the introductory gameplay simple.

Straightforward. About a month of work, ready to play and probably riddled with bugs for us to fix, haha. Enjoy.

Hahah thanks ST. Still haven't caught you in-game yet :(

In other news maybe semi-related to "Holy hell":
We got KAG on Desura!

As such, we're having a sale and have been pushing out updates left and right, here's a recent screenshot and some changes for those of you who're a few builds behind:

Image
  • New graphics
  • Netcode optimisation
  • Fall damage
  • Too many bugfixes to count
  • Human catapult
  • Arrow climbing
  • Pretty parallax backgrounds
  • Many French players
It's prettier, and hopefully more fun than ever - there's still work to do everywhere but it's exciting to see things moving along at the moment.

Note that KAG doesn't require Desura to run, you can just buy gold through them now, and it's cheaper that way for the time being I think :)
Pick up a gold account and every coming update ever for the price of lunch in the city!

So, I had an idea regarding the almost mandatory building tutorial. Also, this sounded fantastic in my head, but maybe not on "paper" so to speak.

Essentially, it's an addition to the mandatory building tutorial. Think of it as an exam; you have a few sections to do before you can play online. Maybe Building, Fighting, and tactics, or maybe even an "apply what you learned" thing. Now, you're scored at the end of the session out of 100% and you're graded on a few factors. Like, how efficient your things were, or how many times you died. And it would do this for all three. And even if you did shitty, you could go back to try to get a better score. After all that, you would have one final test, and you'd basically have to answer a few extremely simple questions, like what it takes to make a ladder or something (Probably too complex, but whatever). In the end, you would have a final grade, and of course a letter grade to accompany the percentage.

In the last little bit of all this, you would, of course, go to find a server. Server hosts could set a required grade to be able to join their server, with the default being maybe a %60 or something..so essentially a D. So, you could have your competitive servers who want the best of the best, or maybe 90% and above, and you'd have your practice servers for those who are still learning the ropes.

So yeah, sorry if that seems too damned complex, but I personally think it'd make the game a little more interesting in terms of people not breaking shit, and hell, you could even make it so that it ISN'T mandatory, but for you to actually join certain servers, you'd have to do the tutorial and get a grade of some sort. And maybe even pointers to help people if they get a lower grade.

I actually really like that idea. I'll certainly consider it in the future when development has cooled down a little, haha.

@BBBB vaguely yes, in practice no. They can change their heads in-game for some customisation and will get access to the full version features when they're done, which free version players wont get access to, like the zombie mode.
