I have heard many good things about the Silent Hill series and have recently decided to play at least one of them. I am asking the community which Silent Hill game is the best or if you have any other recommendations for shit-your-pants-scary games that i can emulate.

I haven't played them, but Yahtzee seems to like Silent Hill 2 a lot.

Yeah, that's why I looked for that one first, but I can't find it anywhere so if that's the best I'll have to settle with the second best.:(

Start with the first and work sequentially. Although The Soundtrack to 3 is amazing.

Fatal Frame is good, if you can find it.

I can't decide whether you're saying that Fatal Frame is generic, or everywhere. ._.

I was criticizing the mention of apple strudel in a thread about blueberry pie.

He asked for other "shit-your-pants-scary games" so I recommended one.

Oh, shit, my bad. I think I've gotten too much in the habit of only reading the first sentence of non-people's posts.

Silent Hill 2 is probably the most popular, but all of them are good. Personally i like Silent Hill 3 the best.

also, the Fatal Frame games are fantastic!

Silent Hill one is absolutely stunning. Let down only by its rather out-dated graphics. The opening couple of hours (From the infamous ally sequence to the primary school final - maw beast is ftw) is terrifying.

Silent Hill 2 is great, too, but it doesn't ever quite capture the terror of that opening few hours. Still, Pyramid Head is iconic for a damned good reason.

Part 3 is fun, but it's much more Resident Evil than the last two (more gunplay), still very good.

The Room I couldn't quite get into, and the rest are too self-referencing to be truly atmospheric.

First 3 = well worth it, if you can.

Also worth checking out are the Parasite Eve games if you like Survival Horror.

I'm not understanding the non-people thing
I already tried Amnesia and it just turns upside down when I play.
