I'd like to know the graphics card too, but looking at your other stuff, the best you could do is Zoo Tycoon and Civilization III.

no its not a joke, but i'll admit that the specs are quite depressing. i have found a couple games though, Half-Life 2, Praetorians looks good, but these specs are really limiting.

Name of graphics card would still help. Or heck, even your PC's model number, if you didn't build it yourself.

Go old school. System Shock 2 is a good start, since you mentioned it. Deus Ex. Fallout. That type of rockin' stuff from when an entire scene fit in 5000 polygons, instead of one character model (Alyx in HL2 is 8323 polygons)

In post edit!: Yeah... Intel integrated graphics... have fun with that!

HL2 is going to run like mud, your experience is going to be extremely gimped. The game really needs to be run at full as the scenery is a massive aspect of the experience, especially with such expansive open sections like the buggy run and the boat canal.

As suggested, I'd look at the older games. If you can get over the aged graphics, there are many that still play extremely well.

FPS
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
Half-Life 1
The Operative: No One Lives Forever
Descent 3
Forsaken
Starsiege Tribes
Aliens Versus Predator
Duke Nukem 3D
Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds
Blood

Platform/Adventure
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus

Action/Adventure/Third Person
Max Payne
Thief: The Dark Project
Tomb Raider 1-3

RPG
Fallout 1+2
Diablo 1+2
Balders Gate 1+2
Neverwinter Nights
Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven
Freedom Force
Final Fantasy VII

RTS
Civilization III
Command & Conquer
Command & Conquer Red Alert
Quake, Quake III Arena
Descent II
Battlezone
Starcraft
Total Annihilation
Myth: The Fallen Lords

Strategy
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far
X-COM: UFO Defense
Darwinia

Combat Sim
FreeSpace 2
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri
Worms Armageddon

Simulators
The Sims
SimCity 3000

Adventure
Grim Fandango
Circle of Blood
Monkey Island 1+2
Little Big Adventure
Myst
Full Throttle
Shivers Two: Harvest of Souls
Outcast
Obsidian
Crusader: No Remorse
Time Commando

Sports Sims
NHL 98
FIFA 2000: Major League Soccer
Jack Nicklaus Online Golf Tour

-

All of the above, if the type of game you enjoy, should do just fine if you don't mind aged graphics. Some of these games are better than most modern attempts.

-

If you like card games like MtG et all, Urban Rivals might interest you. It's a lot more basic than MtG, but it's easy to pick up and lots of fun. Runs from a browser in flash too: Urban Rivals

I don't think there ever was a game, old as it was, unable to run on Vista. There's usually always a way.

Regardless, the list by atob is brilliant.

American Conquest seems to disagree with Vista, i borrowed it from my friend. :(
Edit: Just wondering if my comp could deal with Thief 2
266 MHz CPU, 48 MB RAM, 8 MB video card RAM, 4X CD-ROM drive, DirectX 7.0, 250 MB available hard disk space, Windows 95
thief 1/2 look almost the same so its not gfraphics i just want to know if i can continue once i beat thief, maybe even thief 3?
1.5 GHz CPU, 256 MB RAM, 64 MB video card RAM, 4X CD-ROM drive, DirectX 9.0b, 3.0 GB available hard disk space, Windows XP (WIN)
EDIT(again): i was playing a demo for Thief: TDP and i think it would be a very good game if would work for more than 2 minutes.*
Edit: *Fixed

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... ition=used
played demo for Thief: TDP, almost beat the first level and then got attacked by some guards that ended up killing me in the throne room that i needed to get to. took me 33 minutes and 48 seconds and then i had to starts over. :(

i tried to play a demo of Medieval 2: Total War, i met the requirements and it was all fine and dandy until i clicked play, and then it loaded but when the loading bar was full it stopped working. I've been searching for clues for for like an hour and i gave up because I'm hungry as shit and I was wondering if anyone else knew how to fix this.

Orange- N cannot be spoken, or even thought about in my household. If my parents ever found out that I have played N since the cleansing, my life would be ruined. I keep the game in a multi-passworded .rar on a USB flash drive inside a locked boron alloy container that requires two keys to open (I keep one under the 64th hammer in my piano, and the other one in a small section of removable ceiling in the corner of the attic) hidden in a wall compartment lined with aluminium foil to prevent sonar detection behind my 375 kg cupboard, which is bolted to the floor - the only way to reach it is to abseil outside the fourth floor window and use a screwdriver to unfasten the screws holding the secret brick in place on the opposite side of the wall, but the screwdriver must be a specific type like the one I own, since if any other screwdriver comes into contact with the screws, the entire building will explode, as will a seperate charge placed inside the boron alloy container, rendering the USB useless. Even once the container is retrieved, attemping to open it without the arming pin in place (which is kept inside the battery compartment of my Maglite) will cause the water reservoirs lining the container to burst and react with the caesium lining, causing the container to burst into flames - the only way to prevent this is to use the arming pins to shut off the reservoirs with a sliding steel door. The USB itself contains an accelerometer linked to an explosive charge, meaning that if the USB detects its own movement speed as being greater than 5 cm/s, it will explode - any person attempting to steal it would have to move at a uselessly slow speed. Once plugged into a computer, the USB will upload a ghost virus onto it, leaving no traces. Only the right password can deactivate this virus, and if it is left on the computer for more than six hours, it will format all drives.

As you can see, I take my N playing very seriously.

Guiseppi- I'd much rather watch animals get boned in the ass.

Yanni- If it's glad, it's not rape.

Tsukatu- I refuse to use throw-away bags for such a frequent purpose as buying groceries. Instead, I've collected the hair of my two pet dogs and have woven them together into an all-natural, 100% environmentally friendly bag that I bring with me everywhere. And when I buy products that come in glass and plastic containers, I track down the company that packages them and ship back their containers so that they don't take up space in landfills.

Yeah, I use plastic.

Tsukatu- I hear Ebony Online is great, too. Cum save your princess, my lord!

Ska- UR MUM LIKE IS SPICY

Ska- why d i get the feeling what i typed will end up in the quote depository; or worse: someone's sig.

KinGAleX- I did it on the couch a little while ago.

Zeph- I got too pissed at the knife in the end so I just broke the wood on my knee
