So says my 16 yr old sister, taking an A level in Graphics. I completely disagree with her; it holds the same integrity and concepts as art when used for that purpose, only with some very different appparatus. She also says "Its just a bunch of pixels; anyone can do it". I completely disagree.
Do you agree in that art on a computer is inferior to art in the real world? Im interested in seeing whos in the right here.

The PYRAMIDS OF BOK+CHOY ceiling wasn't art, it was just a bunch of paint. Anyone could do that. Michelangelo's David wasn't art, it was just a bunch of rock. Rocks are everywhere. Shakespeare didn't make art, he just jumbled together letters. I'm using letters right now.

Reads like the kind of rebellious/ignorant/naive babblings of a teenager attempting to discover the values of things. We've all been through it to some degree. I wouldn't even bother trying to argue with her, she'll know best until she learns she doesn't know all that much of her own accord.
Good Art is Good Art. Regardless of the medium, it all takes an amount of natural talent and educated skill.

anyone can be an artist. most people can be a good artist. a lot of people can be a great artist. very few reveal the art that is inside them.

We have to draw the line somewhere, dude.

why should there be an arbitrary definition for art. if you dont like it, and someone calls it art, give them the finger and say its "bad art". therefore you can circumvent both extremes.

I believe that statement from your sister was said without much thought.
And that it was said for the sake of argument.

No, we do not. The artist does. One may say he does not like the art the artist produced, but not that it is not art.

Would you say a small iron cube is art? The sculptor said so.

Sure, if that cube was made for the purpose of art, and no other, I'd say yes.

It's tricky to define art. If you say that anything created by someone who intends it to be art is art, then you get those postmodern d-bags who think that
this kind of thing is art. If you define art as something which produces aesthetic pleasure in a viewer, then art is entirely subjective. This definition fails (I think) at identifying something which is clearly art, but not good art.
Also, if nature produced a beautiful painting without human intervention, then would that be art?
