Quite a shocking announcement. It has just come across the new circuit in the past half hour. President Obama is going to make a speech in a few minutes apparently. I'll try to get a live stream of that when it comes up, but you can always turn on your TV, I am sure it will be on most channels.

What? This did not happen a whole month ago. This happened like, two weeks ago, tops. Unless this was literally on the news for weeks striaght, with everyone pretending it was still relevant, and I was not paying attention to anything for a good 2-3 weeks, I demand to know how you people have managed to travel back in time a month.

Let's be honest. His death was far, far more "relevant" than what is usually on the news. There are many things about which to complain with regards to America's press, but the fact that they had actual events to cover and did so is not one of them.

Actually, even the day it happened, his death was not that relevant at all. The thing with religious extremists is that they act upon a unified set of beliefs, not the orders of an individual. Yes, their actions were dictated by what he said, but were he not there, another would have given similar orders. Osama was always nothing more than a figurehead. In fact, if anything, this could prove detrimental to the war effort, as he will simply be replaced by another individual with the same shared belief, ultimately leading to no real change in idealogy or goals, while potentially inciting a desire for revenge, for us killing an idolised figure.

Yes, there is of course the boost in moral that soldiers in combat will have recieved from the news, but regardless, it's one purely based on a misconception of the enemy.

We pretty much succeeded in killing the Iraqi Mariah Carey. We just drew a Hitler moustache on her before we did it.

flag is talking about relevance in terms of what is generally propagated by mainstream news media. You're talking about relevance to the course of the war. Way different.
